Founded in 2019, Vox Orbis is a female choral ensemble based in Galway and directed by Mark Keane.
In February 2020, Vox Orbis won the Plainchant Competition and the Dr Patrick McCormack Trophy for the best overall performance of an a capella piece at the Limerick Choral Festival. The choir will compete at the Limerick and Cork International Choral Festivals in 2023.
Vox Orbis performed Pergolesi Stabat Mater with the ConTempo Quartet, as well as motets for Passiontide, including excerpts from Victoria Tenebrae Responsories in Tuam Cathedral in April 2022; and Michael Haydn Missa Sancti Leopoldi and Vesperae pro festo SS Innocentium in Galway Cathedral in June 2022. Vox Orbis has performed with leading instrumentalists, including the internationally acclaimed British clarinetist Emma Johnson, for a performance of her Christmas collection Songs of Celebration in December 2022.
The choir also commissions and premieres work by contemporary composers. In 2022, this included music by Rhona Clarke and Mark Keane.
